This area is intended to provide useful information for new Club members. It is always being extended and so if there is information you would like to see added, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

About the Club

The Club aims to be as open and transparent as possible. We publish all information such as Executive meeting minutes so that members are aware of decisions made and issues affecting the running of the Club.

There is a wealth of information about the Club under the Club tab on the top menu bar, including information on the structure of the Club, who's who, the history of the Club, kit and how you can get involved in helping by volunteering. Information on policies, procedures and welfare can be found under Club....Documents  (registered users only, see below).

Club Communication

Most day to day communication within the Club is via one of the Forum, Facebook or Twitter. Once you sign up to the Forum you will have access to the latest information specific to forum topics, eg Athlete&Youth, Cross Country or specific Training Groups. Your Forum login also gives you access to documents such as meeting minutes and other information which is not published on the public-facing pages of the website.

The latest Club Facebook  and Twitter feeds are shown on the home page. Club members, coaches and athletes regularly post information on these feeds so they are worth following and if you have a question, this is a good place to start.

Scottish Athletics Membership and Competition

As a Scottish Athletics affiliated club, membership of Pitreavie AAC provides you with liability insurance for participating in athletics-related activities through the UK Athletics global insurance policy. New Pitreavie members should also join Scottish Athletics; in addition to providing access to competitions, SA membership provides a range of discounts and benefits. You will not be able to compete for the Club in championships or league events without a valid Scottish Athletics membership number beginning 'SA'. See  http://www.scottishathletics.org.uk/membership/  for details on joining Scottish Athletics.

The Club competes in a number of league competitions (see the Leagues tab on the top menu bar). If you are selected to compete in a League meeting you will be entered by the Club. Note that Championship events such as the East District and National Championships are self entry, as are 'open-graded' meetings which are held throughtout the season.  Open-graded meetings are open to all entrants and provide a good way of gaining experience and of recording official event performances to improve your personal bests and gain the notice of the Team Managers! The Fixtures list gives good guidance about which events fall into which category and how to enter.

Competition age groups are determined by Scottish Athletics and change at the end of the Outdoor Track & Field season (September of each year).

Age Groups/Qualification for 2016:

Under 11: Born on or after 01/09/2005
Under 13: Born between 1/09/03 and 31/08/05
Under 15: Born between 1/09/01 and 31/08/03
Under 17: Born between 1/09/99 and 31/08/01
Under 20: Born between 31/12/96 and 31/08/99
Senior: Born before 31/12/96
Master: 35 and over on day of competition (5 year age group)

These Age Groups apply from now through until Sept 2016 for track & field events (indoor and outdoor).  However for Cross Country, athletes compete in the age groups that they were in for summer 2015 i.e. if you were U15 on the track in the summer season just finished, you remain U15 for the Cross Country season.
