Where can I find league information?

http://www.scottishleague.org.uk/

What is this league?

This is the main league competition for men’s athletics in Scotland (the equivalent league for women is the Scottish Women’s League). The league usually organises four matches each season and all matches have a full set of track events from 100m to 5,000m along with 4 x 100m and 4 x  400m relays.

Who competes in this league?

Predominantly U20 men up to Veterans. U17s may complete in selected events (outlined in the league rules)

What are the different matches?

There are four league matches. At each match you get an overall placing and amount of points according to your place at that match. After four matches the teams with the most overall points are champions of their leagues. The two teams from the top division with the least points are relegated while the two teams with the most points from the second division are promoted.

How is the team selected?

The athletes are selected from current form through current form, PB's, Power of Ten and season form. The Team Manager strives to put the strongest team out for the league. Different weights of implements are often considered before picking athletes as some age groups are different to senior events. The selections are reviewed and form and times are then reconsidered before the next race.

Each event apart from relay has an A and a B athlete. The relays have four athletes. The athletes will be picked on ability.

You may be called up for events that are not your main events. This will happen if your main events are full or if you can help the team by filling spaces to help achieve the highest position the club can get.

How do I know if I am selected?

Before each match the Team Manager will call, email or will meet face to face to inform athletes of selection.
