Courses for Athletics Officials

Published on Monday, 30 January 2017 19:53

Scottish Athletics are keen to recruit new officials to help at events, see the message below. Please consider this, it is a huge help to the Club to have qualified officials and also a pre-requisite for many of the leagues in which our members participate. Failing to supply officials leads to points being docked from the team and can result in our teams not being allowed to participate.

With the Indoor season well underway and the outdoor season just around the corner and the calendar of events is growing all the time, need for qualified Officials is greater than ever before.

To try and make sure that all events in Scotland are run under the UKA rules and the insistence from Powerof10 to have qualified officials at events to ratify results, we have put a training calendar together for Officials courses. This calendar will be added to as the demand becomes greater or if clubs would like to host their own course.

I have attached the Calendar of courses if you could share this with your members and encourage them to signup for a course in the near future. This will not only help your club locally to have qualified officials but also Scottish Championships.

For those who would prefer to have a chat and a walkaround to see what is involved, there will be a recruitment stand at most of the Indoor Championships where there will be officials on hand to have a chat about officiating too.
