Pitreavie Athlete leads the Scottish Team Home

Published on Tuesday, 07 January 2014 13:23

Promising Pitreavie Youth Athlete, Aidan Thompson, competed at the weekend in the under 20’s 2014 Celtic Nations International Cross Country in Antrim and ran an excellent race leading the Scotland team home in first place, whilst also taking individual Gold.

Aidan who runs in the under 17 age group is currently the Scottish and British 1500 metre Steeplechase champion. Aidan is also currently part of Scottish Athletics National Youth Academy and puts down his success to hard work, determination and the excellent coaching of John Wands, who has developed Aidan as an athlete through the various age groups over the past seven years. Aidan will now focus his training on the Scottish Cross Country Championship which is to be held on 22 February.

Kathryn Pennel also ran as a first year Under 23 and represented Glasgow University as part of the  Scottish team finishing seventh in a time of 21:07.

Well done to them both.
