Scottish Hill Running Champion

Published on Thursday, 21 May 2015 13:42
Two Pitreavie juniors took part in the Scottish Hill Running Championships at Ben Lomond on Saturday 9th May 2015.

Emily Nicholson finished as Scottish Champion and won the U17 race in convincing style - she led the race from start to finish, in 22.31, finishing 40 seconds ahead of next finisher, 2 minutes quicker than her time last year and beating all of the U20 women. This was the main selection race for the International Youth Cup in Bulgaria, Emily stands a very good chance of being selected for this - it would be her 2nd Scottish Hill running call up. She has already been identified as a future hill running talent and is a member of the GB Performance development squad, she attended a training weekend with the squad during the easter holidays - the advice and training has certainly paid off as this is her 3rd consecutive victory on the hills this season. Wee sister Zoe also took to the hills and ran in the U15 race, finishing a very creditable 4th place on only her first ever hill race, within 30 seconds of the winner.

Well done to both girls.
