The Club is keen to encourage more people - parents and older athletes in particular - to become involved in coaching and officiating for the Club. The number of training groups we can operate and the number of athletes who can participate depends directly on our having enough coaching help and so if you are interested, your help could make a big difference. There are 3 Scottish Athletics Coaching Assistant courses running in the next few months, dates are as follows:
- Grangemouth 20/27 September
- Perth 10/11 October
- Livingston 31 October/7 November
Depending on the number of people who express interest we may be able to arrange our 'own' course to take place at Pitreavie. If you are interested in becoming qualified as a Coaching Assistant please contact our Coaching Secretary, Linzie Marsh, at This email address is being protected from spambots. The Club also needs more qualified Officials - it may not be common knowledge but the Club must provide a quota of officials to assist at the various competitions and leagues which we enter and failing to do so can result in the Club being docked points. We are very keen to increase the number of qualified officials and hope to organise a course, most probably at Pitreavie - the minimum number of people required for a course to go ahead is 6. Officials courses are 3-4 hours long and can be incorporated into a training night or a weekend morning. The course types are as follows:
- Assistant Official covering the basic rules in track and field, timekeeping and starter/marksman.
- Level 2 Officials specialising in one area of track, field, timekeeping, photo finish and starter/marksman.
