Young Pitreavie athletes shine in Men's League

A NUMBER of young athletes took the chance to shine as they represented Pitreavie AAC in the final Scottish Men's League match of the season at Meadowbank on Sunday.
Against senior opposition, under-17 athletes Ben Grant and Tyler White both enjoyed victories in their events.
Grant (15) won the 400m B race in 52.83s, while White (16) took the honours in the 1500m B race, finishing in 4:16.64.
Also from the under-17 age group, Adam Johnston (16) was third in the 100m B race in a new personal best of 11.84s and second in the long jump with 5.93m, while James Adam (15) was fourth in the 800m in 2:02.82, and Dylan Thomson was third in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.00m.
Under-20 athlete Steven Perrie-Clyde recorded new PBs of 11.33s for the 100m and 22.63s for the 200m, finishing third and fourth in the sprints respectively.
Other under-20s included Martin Carr, who recorded PBs in the 200m (24.45s) and 400m hurdles (69.01s) and finished third in the long jump B competition with 5.54m; William Cain, fourth in the 800m B race in 2:10.23; Ben Potrykus, second in the 1500m in 4:11.07; and Corey Smith, second in the 400m hurdles B race in 70.25s and sixth in the 3000m steeplechase.
Veterans David Agnew and Michael Mellon also did well for the team - Agnew finishing third in the 400m in 52.50s and Mellon also third in the javelin with a throw of 38.25m.
Pitreavie team manager Colin Lamont did his bit too, winning the 3000m steeplechase B race in 11:43.08.
Both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams finished fourth in their races.
