Pitreavie Road Runners Feb 2016 Race Results

Published on Thursday, 03 March 2016 20:20

A big WELL DONE for Suzanne Goodall, who was the first female V40 and second female overall at the Forfar multi terrain half marathon. This is an extremely testing event and Suzanne’s time of 1:39:28 was an excellent performance and a great start to the year.

Also due for congratulations, was Jane Macleod, who was the first female V60 for the “Frostbite Trail Series”. This event covers four separate challenging races and Jane fought hard for her well deserved win.

The first RoadRunner’s Championship event of 2016 was the Broxburn Cross Country; a tough course, tricky, cold and icy conditions ensured that everyone was well outside of their comfort zone. There was snow, there were tumbles and blood, but, everyone dug in, ran well and all seemed to be smiling at the finish. An excellent run by Rebecca Burns, made her the overall winner of the women’s race. Sarah Ross (76th) followed her in with a good performance and Penny Hicks Hicks (96th) seems to be improving with every race. The first RoadRunner home in the men’s race was Colin Lamont (86th), followed by Neil Maclachlan (145th), Jeff Farquar (146th), Graham Gordon (155th), Mark Zuidewind (218th), Campbell Blair (236th) and Dereck Duncan (273rd ).

The second Championship event was the Devilla Forrest 15K Trail race, with twelve RoadRunners taking part, two of which were in the top 40. The usual winter conditions prevailed throughout the day, with some treacherous underfoot conditions, lots of mud and puddles verging on ponds. The first RoadRunner home was Graham Gordon in a time of 1 hour, 6 minutes and 2 seconds, followed by Neil Maclachlan in a time of 1:06:33. The other finishers were: Graeme Crane ( 1:11;03), Michael Gudgeon ( 1:13:19), Campbell Blair ( 1:15:46), Gavin Major ( 1:18:38), Dereck Duncan ( 1:22:54), Lisa McCran (1:25:07), Penny Hicks ( 1:27:05), David McColgan (1:29:08), Barry Miller (1:32:11) and Alan Forbes (1:47:39).

February gave us the first 5 mile handicap race of the year, with fifteen RoadRunners taking part. First home was Pam Pattison in a time of 41 minutes and 3 seconds, followed by David McColgan in 37 minutes and 24 seconds. The remaining finishers were: Donald Netherly 34:36, Rebecca Prow 38:33, Campbell Blair 34:35, Lisa McCran 38:50, Gavin Major 35:14, Graham Gordon 31:12, Michael Barr 36:58, Carey Stewart 36:58, Dereck Duncan 38:19, Graeme Crane 33:32, Suzanne Goodall, Jane Macleod and Alan Forbes.
