Pitreavie AAC Endurance

All you need to know about endurance running with Pitreavie AAC

Pitreavie athletes once again took part in the latest Scottish Athletics virtual 4J Studios challenge – this time based on running distance achieved in either 15 mins or 30 mins. Once again there was a good turnout, with 38 members taking part from across the age spectrum.

Pitreavie placed 3rd in the 30min challenge with 119k, a great result for a mixed athletics and endurance club.  Bellahouston Road Runners dominated in first place with 220k, followed by Calderglen Harriers on 173k.  The U15 and U13 youngsters did exceptionally well to be placed joint 2nd overall on 37.37k with Law and District AAC, behind 1st place Giffnock North AC (52.34k).

Pitreavie track athletes dominated the 19 members who took part in 15 min challenge, with U15B Caleb McLeod placing 1st for Pitreavie (joint 41st overall) with 4.25k, followed by Craig Moriarty (3.75k), U13 Lily Simon (3.71k, 5th U13G overall), Paul Allan  - Club President – (3.58k) and U17 Lynn Harvey (3.50k).

The 30min race appealed to the Endurance section, who largely opted for the longer duration on the hottest weekend of the year so far.  With competition hotting up amongst the fastest men in the club, David Henderson, 1st Pitreavie male (overall 38th in the 30 min race), was on good form with 8.08k, with Graeme Downie (7.36k), followed by Ben Fraser (7.23k).  Kirstyn Suttie was first Pitreavie woman on 6.35k, followed by Morna Fleming (6.17k), and Leona Doherty (6.13k).

In a separate news, Morna Fleming placed 2nd V60 woman with a time of 23.59 mins in the European leg of the Sri Chimnoy Oneness World Virtual 5k series.  This virtual race is a series of 5ks, each dedicated to a different world continent.  Morna also came 2nd V60 woman overall with her combined time of 1 hour 38 mins and 28 sec.
