Saturday’s Cross Country race was the 3rd and final East league meeting held in Broxburn. The weather was drizzly to start but that didn’t faze our first runners out. The U11 girls continued their fantastic form with Jenny Gillanders 1st over the line, followed by Jennifer Brydon 12th, Kaley Gostick 13th, Skye Marshall 14th , Emily Kerr 18th, Eilish Deswarte 28th and Abby Chisholm 37th. The U11 girls team won the league overall – well done to all the girls taking part over the three meetings – fantastic effort.

The next race U11 boys also produced some great results with Lewis Blair 5th, Euan Johnston 7th, Campbell Dowie 8th and Conor Gourley 18th. The boys finished 3rd overall for the season which was tremendous considering they suffered 100 penalty points in the first race as we did not field a full team.

In the U13 girls race we had further strong performances with Zoe Nicholson first home in 8th position, followed by Jemma Jamieson 18th and Tegan Gostick 35th. A special mention to Iona Crawford who was in contention, but had an unfortunate fall and was unable to complete the course. Luckily no injury sustained so looking forward to seeing Iona in action again at the Nationals in February. The girls finished in a great 4th overall for the season.

The U13 boys also fared well with Alex Johnston finishing strongly in 5th backed up by Liam Murray 39th, Arran Robertson 44th and Liam Gillan 51st.

The U15 girls had an impressive 6 runners and produced some great results with Leah Davie 3rd, Emily Nicholson 5th, Sophie Nethery 12th, Sophie Telfer 17th, Evie Coyle 23rd and Alice Pearson 25th. The U15 girls team finished in a fantastic 2nd position overall.

The U15 boys also had a good race with Tyler White 15th, James Adam 22rd, Ben Grant 32nd and Andrew McNair 35th. The team finished in a well placed 3rd overall.

The U17 men were represented by Evan Ross and Corey Smith finishing well in 16th and 22nd respectively, overall the team finishing 5th.

Finally in the senior races Rebecca Burns finished in a fantastic 4th position for the women,  Ben Potrykus 24th and Neil McLachlan 161st for the men.

Congratulations to everyone who took part this season, we had great success combined with great team spirit…looking forward to seeing all the hard work paying off on the track.

If anyone is interested in competing in the National XC in Falkirk on 22nd February please let me know by Wednesday 29th January. This event is open to U13’s and upwards and we would like to have teams in all age groups if possible..another date to watch out for is the National Junior Road Race Championships on Sunday 16th March – open to U13’s and upwards to U20. I’ll be taking names for this during February.
