PITREAVIE athletes played a major role to help Kingdom Athletic gain promotion to the top division of the UK Youth Development League (Upper Northern).

Kingdom - made up of athletes from Pitreavie AAC, Fife AC and Dundee Hawkhill Harriers - secured their place in Premier Division One after finishing second in the final match of the season in Leeds on Saturday. Delighted joint team manager Paul Allan said: "After restructuring cruelly resulted in the team being relegated a couple of seasons ago, Kingdom Athletic can take its rightful place back at the top table. "Today saw a magnificent effort from the team with the team spirit being key, and every athlete keen to do that extra event to pick up more points. "Well done to all the athletes for some outstanding performances and efforts to make sure we didn't lose out."

Taylor Roy won the under-17 100m hurdles in 14.3s and then followed that up with third place in the 200m B string in 24.5s. Declan Brennan came third in the under-20 200m in 23.0s and was second in the B string shot putt with 8.46m. Corey Smith moved up to the under-20 2000m steeplechase for the first time this season and won the race in 8.15.1. He also recorded personal bests of 2.07.7 in the under-17 800m for fourth place, and of 72.6s in the under-20 400m hurdles for third place.

James Donald also recorded two excellent PBs - 2.05.6 in the under-17 800m B race, and 9.37.6 in the 3000m - and finished off by taking second place in the 1500m in 4.28.2. Tyler White was runner-up in the under-17 3000m B race in 10.09.6 and then ran 4.52.9 to take second place in the 1500m B race. He also ran his first ever steeplechase, clocking 7.29.1 in the 1500m B race. Ben Potrykus, running with taped up feet to relieve some bad blisters, produced an excellent effort in the under-20 3000m to finish in 9.32.5 and then ran 4.17.1 for third place in the 1500m.

Stephen Perrie-Clyde stepped up in distance to 400m and secured fourth place in the under-20 race in 52.6s. Cameron Sinclair won the under-17 400m B race in 56.4s.  He was also third in the long jump with 5.44m and second in the high jump with 1.60m, only losing out on count back. Craig Moriarty won the under-17 pole vault with 3.75m, and took third place in the under-20 javelin B string with 21.49m. He also managed a PB of 16.41m for fourth in the under-17 discus. William Murray ran 11.8s in the under-17 100m fourth place, and threw 39.35m for second in the javelin and 10.32m for fifth in the shot putt.

The under-17 4x100m quartet, including Pitreavie's Taylor Roy, Cameron Sinclair and William Murray, was second in 47.7s. The under-20 4x100m team, featuring Declan Brennan and  Steven Perrie-Clyde, also finished runners-up in 46.0s. However, Kingdom's under-20 and under-17 4x400m quartets , both produced winning performances. The under-20s, including Declan Brennan and Steven Perrie-Clyde, clocked 3.39.2, while the under-17s, featuring Taylor Roy, finished in 3.47.1.

Lexie Cook, in her debut season in athletics, set a new PB of 44.4s to win the under-17 300m, and was fourth in the 200m B race in 28.6s. As usual, team captain Rachel Hunter covered a wide range of events. She was second in the under-20 100m hurdles in 23.0s, third in the 400m hurdles in 82.9s, first in the 1500m steeplechase in 7.44.1s, first in the Javelin with 26.13m and fifth in the hammer with 8.48m.

Anna Gordon won the under-20 pole vault with 3.70m, and Ruth Harvey won the B event with a PB of 2.20m. Kirsten Cronie then made it a triple success, securing victory in the under-17 pole vault with 3.10m. Ruth and Anna also threw the discus - Ruth throwing 17.14m for fourth place and Anna throwing a PB of 13.55m for fourth in B string. Kirsten got in the act with a shot putt throw of 6.77m for fourth in the under-20 competition, and threw15.01m for sixth place in the under-17 javelin.

Sarah Connor made her debut this season for the team where she ran the under-20 100m and 200m, clocking 13.0s for fourth and 28.0s for third respectively. Autumn Norris backed up Sarah in both races, with third place in the 100m B string in 14.8s and fourth in the 200m B string in 31.3s.

In the relays, the under-17 4x100m quartet containing Lexie Cook and Isla Sinclair finished second in 53.8s. The under-20s, featuring Sarah Connor, Autumn Norris and Kirsten Cronie, were third in 55.2s. And the under-17 4x300m quartet, including Isla Sinclair, Erin Graham and Lexie Cook, finished third in 3.11.7.
