Scottish Mens League Div 2

Published on Monday, 21 April 2014 11:20

The sun was shining on Grangemouth but the wind was blowing for the first Men's League match of the season, after some late call offs the team fell to just 12 men, three of which were Men's League debutants.

The team got off to a fantastic start on the track and in the field with Craig Moriarty winning the pole vault and Jack Lawrie winning the 400m Hurdles. Cameron Sinclair finished 5th in the Long jump with captain Francis Smith helping get some points and taking 5th B.  The sprints suffered a little with the strong head wind but the results were as follows:

100m  A – 2nd Oliver Lawson

100m B – 1st Declan Brennan

200m A – 3rd Declan Brennan

200m B – 4th Steven Perrie-Clyde

110mH A – 1st Francis Smith

400m A – 7th Niall Curley

400m  B – 1st Michael Burns

The distance boys found it hard with the wind but the four that we had were fantastic, Corey smith did the double 800m & 1500m, Tyler White in his first mens league ran an 8 second PB in the 1500m, then busy Michael Burns was 6th in the 800m A and Ben Potrykus ran a fantastic 5000m.  We covered the HJ with Jack Lawrie jumping 1m 85 in trainers and Declan Brennan showed his strength with a PB shot put 8m 67.   A bit of fortune helped the 4x100m team to victory and the  x400m boys gave us a show.

Thanks to all the athletes that turned out to help the team finish 3rd and keep us in with a chance of promotion this year. The Pitreavie athlete of the day was Jack Lawrie.

The next match is on Sunday 18th May at Aberdeen.
