Pitreavie fielded a strong presence at the 4 x 200m Relays on Saturday at the Emirates, with teams in most age group categories, and several teams qualifying for the semi-finals on 15th February. The U17 Women A team (S Wallwork, D Mauchlen, A Chisholm and R Grieve), pulled out a strong performance coming 2nd in their heat qualifying for the semis in a time of 1:45:50, just behind VP-Glasgow AC who were 1st with 1:44:86s. Meanwhile, the Senior Women’s team (A Crichton, B Aitken, S Steel and L Harvey) acquitted themselves well, coming in 5th place in their final with 1:46:11s, only 0.32s behind Perth Strathtay.
The U15 Girls A Team (K Richardson, A McCloud, E Macfarlane and M McCloud) came 6th out of 26 teams in the heats, going through to the semis in 1:51:22, and then through to the finals in 5th place in 1:52:30, with twins Aaliyah and Mica McCloud building nicely on their previous solo successes. Aaliyah with a silver in 800m and Mica ranked number 1 last year for 100m and 200m. The U15 Girls B team (C Joiner, J Adie, L Simon, and O Knowles) also did very well, qualifying for the semi-finals with heat time of 1:58:52 and 10th place. Unfortunately, their time of 1:59:52 didn’t get them through to the finals. The U13 Girls (H Gray, A Freck, J Young, C Cameron), most of whom were first year athletes, did extremely well to make it through the heats with a 9th place time of 2:06:10, but their time of 2:06:25 in the semis didn’t qualify for the finals.
The U13 Boys A team (F Charity, R Allan, C Fyffe, and R Law) were very unlucky as their faster heat meant they didn’t qualify for the semis, despite having better time (2:07:52) than local rivals Dunfermline Track and Field (2:08:11). In a similar stroke of bad luck, the U15 Boys A team (F Trotter, H Mackie, C Hall, A Mitchell) didn’t get through their fast heat to the semis in spite of their time of 1:49:80, with Dunfermline Track and Field qualifying in 1:51:66.
